Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do I get there?
We are located on Queensland Beach, Nova Scotia in the South Shore Region. Once arrived at the beach, you will see our blue Paddle Island cabana. Come on over to check in and pick up your rentals! Please see our Contact Us page to view our location on a map.
  • What do I need to bring?
Prior to your arrival, please have your online waiver form signed and completed. You will also need to bring a piece of valid ID (driver's license, health card).
  • How can I pay?
For groups (3 or more) 50% deposit is required via e-transfer to hold the booking. All other payments can be made on-site via MasterCard, Visa, Debit and e-transfer.
  • If I am under the age of 18, do I need a parent with me?
No, you do not need a parent to accompany you if you are under the age of 18. You will need a legal parent and/or guardian to sign off on your waiver which will be sent via email after your reservation is confirmed. However, if you are under the age of 16, you will need a parent to accompany you.
  • Am I able to book in-person?
Yes, you may book in-person, however, we highly recommend booking in advance to secure your spot.
  • Are lifejackets provided?
At Paddle Island, we will provide lifejackets for your safety on the water. It is imperative that all participants wear the lifejacket for the duration of their booking. At Paddle Island, it is against the policy to remove a lifejacket while using the rental water sport equipment regardless of your level of experience.
  • Is there somewhere I can keep my stuff while on the water?
Unfortunately, we do not have lockers available for our customers. It is up to your discretion where you leave your belongings, but we recommend not to leave valuable items such as cellphones, car keys or wallets unattended. Paddle Island will not be responsible for any lost, stolen or damaged items. We will be selling dry bags for purchase on-site.
  • Do I need to be experienced to rent?
No! You do not need to have prior experience with a paddle board or skimboard to use our rentals. We do, however, ask that you have swimming experience and basic swimming skills.
  • What should I wear?
We recommend that you wear swim wear such as a bathing suit or swim shirt. Other alternatives are lightweight, quick-dry active wear as you will be getting in the water! We also suggest that you pack sunscreen no matter the weather conditions.
  • What is your cancellation policy?
For groups of 3 or more, you must cancel 72 hours prior to your booking for a full refund less $15 processing fee. A cancellation between 72-24 hours prior to your booking will result in a 50% refund less $15 processing fee. Any cancellations less than 24 hours prior to the booking will result in no refund to deposit. We understand that there may be other circumstances such as poor weather conditions, in this case, if we are required to close, your reservation can be rescheduled at your request.
